Started in November 2001, The Baptist Church at Ebenezer is an intentional church start of First Baptist Church of Rincon, designed to reach the rural community of Ebenezer between Springfield and Rincon, Georgia, along the Savannah River of Effingham County. After getting off to a great start as a satellite church of First Baptist, the church called Eric Hayes as our pastor in 2004. Eric served faithfully for 10 years.
Our current Pastor, Matt Hines, was called in 2016. He and his wife Laura, have 3 children: Caleb (wife - Samantha), Morgan, and Jackson. They also have one grandchild, Amelia. Matt is a graduate of Kennesaw State University and earned a Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
The church suffered a fire in November of 2022 and met again where the church originally met, New Ebenezer Retreat Center for a year and five months, until restorations and renovation could be completed. We moved back into our building on Palm Sunday 2024.
The church has a history of faithfulness to scripture and evangelistic outreach. The church seeks to meet the needs of its community and helps sponsor several local missions including the Treutlen House, a home for boys.
